Upshotz Origins

Upshotz is a new community photography project set up to offer a platform for expression to young adults. Initially running in Lambeth, our long term objective is to roll this project out London-wide. Our aim is to engage and encourage young people aged 16-19 to nurture their creativity and to learn new skills that will be useful in their personal and career development.

The project was founded by Matt Moka and Ellie Laycock, an industry professional who wanted to extend her many years photographic experience into the local community. Armed with a mandate to provide photographic workshops to young people, and having enlisted the help of friends, family and support groups, the Upshotz idea was developed.

We are not a registered charity but the scope and generated interest in Upshotz has meant that the project has procured a vast number of resources and support in kind enabling Upshotz to promote our ethos.
